Jennifer Nichols

God has given me a passionate heart for children and families, and through that I have provided mental health therapy to individuals, couples, and families over the past 20 years. I have been in private practice as a psychotherapist off and on as my husband Charlie and I built a family together and added children to our lives. Additionally, I served in the public school sector for over 10 years as a professional school counselor in all levels (Elementary, Middle, and High Schools). I am so thankful to once again be working in private practice and as a member of the Care & Counseling Ministry Team here at CBC where Charlie and I have been active members since 2006.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University as well as a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Sam Houston State University. I am licensed by the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor. My husband and I are both graduates of Texas A&M where we met in 1997, and are die hard Aggie fans (Fightin' Texas Aggie Classes of '02 and '00, respectively).

Charlie and I have been blessed with three beautiful and crazy sons that keep us very busy. Our youngest is in elementary school, the middle son is in middle school, and our oldest is in high school. We enjoy supporting our children in their various activities, including art, football, and band. I have never lived in any other state than Texas, and was born and raised in Pasadena, TX. I gave my heart to our Lord Jesus at the age of 8 while a member at First Baptist Church of Pasadena.

More About Jennifer:

Pool, beach, lake, river, or waterpark?

This is a hard question for me because it's not just one answer - I LOVE WATER. I LOVE the Outdoors. I love MY Pool, but also love the Beach (especially if there is clear water), Lakes, and absolutely LOVE rivers, especially if they are clear and COLD (like the Frio!). I love spending time with my husband and children, no matter where we are.

What is the most unusual non-ministry job you’ve had?

Although it was not paid, I was the first student to be sent from Texas A&M University to intern with the FBI. I was assigned to Drug Squad 6 at the Houston Office and worked alongside my Supervising Special Agent on some very exciting drug cases. I also worked on some cases with the Violent Crime Squad, which was very eye-opening and shocking at times.

What is your favorite cartoon character or superhero?

As a boy mom, I am very much a lover of the Marvel Universe so it would be so difficult to choose from the superhero department, but as a child I LOVED cartoons and enjoyed watching my boys love them as well, and my all-time favorite would still have to be Scooby-Doo. I loved the mysteries in every episode and the fact that Scooby was scared of almost everything, but with Shaggy by his side, he ended up making it through some pretty frightening situations, and always came out on top.
