DISCUSSION

Where or with whom do you have the most influence and why?

EXAMINATION.

Vv.1-2 Why would the Lord allow his people to be defeated?

Vv.3-7 What do you think the king is hoping to accomplish with this plan?

Vv.8-16 Why do you think Daniel objects?

Is it miraculous that the diet shows results in only 10 days? Why or why not?

Vv.17-21 What part does God play in all this, and why?

APPLICATION.

  • Consider the following Scripture: 1 Peter 2:11. What similarities are there between Daniel being a captive in a strange land and God’s people today living as “aliens and strangers”?
  • Are there any examples you can think of where you resolved in advance to honor God?
  • How did it turn out?
  • Christians can come across as angry and judgmental at times. Look at the following passages and share how that should shape our interactions with the world: 2 Timothy 2:24; 1 Peter 3:15; Colossians 3:8.
  • What does it look like for a Christian to live with the expectation that God will show up?
  • Fact: What is a key truth that you understood from this passage?
  • React: What did you feel?
  • Act: What are you going to do?
