INTRODUCTION.
In this series, we will confront questions such as: Does God’s plan for his church include it being multi-ethnic? Is true cultural and ethnic diversity even possible for a local church? Is such diversity more trouble than it’s worth? Why should we care?

 

EXAMINATION.

 V.19 (To review the death of Stephen, see Acts 7:54-8:3)
What good came from the persecution of the Jerusalem church?
Why would the scattered believers tell the message only to Jews?
 
 Vv.20-21 How do we know that evangelizing the Greeks was a good thing?
 
 Vv.22-24 Why did the Jerusalem church want to check this out, and why might they have chosen to send Barnabas?
 What is the “evidence of God’s grace” that Barnabas witnessed?
 
 Vv.25-26 What is significant about Saul being involved in this ministry?
 What might prompt those in Antioch to refer to the believers as Christians?
 
APPLICATION.
  •  Fact: What is a key truth that you understood from this passage?

  •  Act: What one thing could you do to apply this Scripture?
 

 After studying this passage, how does it support the following statements?

God especially blessed evangelism that crossed ethnic boundaries. 

The more diverse we are, the more Christ-like we may appear. 

Diversity in church is an evidence of God’s grace.
