Dave Muntsinger

I have spent the last 20 years in pastoral ministry. Prior to Cypress Bible Church, I served for 11 years as the Senior Pastor of Spring Cypress Presbyterian Church (PCA) just a few miles from CBC. Before moving to the great state of Texas, I was the Spiritual Development Pastor in Richmond, VA and Singles Pastor at Christ Community Church in Nashville, TN.

My education has spanned two states and two divergent subject matters. I have a business degree from Penn State (Hospitality Management), and a Masters of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. I worked for Marriott Corporation as an IT Trainer and Analyst in Washington, DC and as a Sales Director for the Barrington Group in Dallas, TX before entering pastoral ministry. I also have my Life Insurance and Brokerage License.

My interests include playing sports of all kinds, I exercise daily with a desire to maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet, while consuming a wide variety of cuisines. I have a zest to travel (hope to visit all of Europe). I enjoy my morning coffee (Sumatra). I am an avid fan of: U2 (I’ve attended every concert tour since 1984), all things Penn State, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Astros. I always enjoy a sports event, going out to a fun restaurant, listening to live music and dancing with Jana.

My wife Jana (a native Texan and Baylor grad) and I met in Washington DC and we have three wonderful children (Jack, Ford, and Kate). My kids are the pride and delight of my life. Since moving to Texas more than a dozen years ago, we have had the privilege of educating them at Providence Classical School. The Lord has given us many life-long friends, adventures, and great joy because of His marvelous gospel of grace.

More About Dave:

What is your favorite dessert and why?

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory or Tiramisu with Café Americano at Mia Bella in the Vintage. Pecan Pie. Can’t have just one favorite dessert, life is too short.

Pool, beach, lake, river, or waterpark?

Well, since the mountains were not included, it would be at the beach.  I love the sand, sun, and surf.  We love to spend two weeks at the beach each year.  It never gets old for me

Which Christian writers and ministers have been influential in your life?

Jonathan Edwards, Augustine, Martin Luther, and John Calvin have most framed my theology. The recent guys are Tim Keller, John Piper, and J.I. Packer. I was also blessed by several great ministers pouring into my life before I entered pastoral ministry, and they gave me the inspiration to serve Christ as my calling.

I regularly read a devotion from either the Valley of Vision (Puritans) or Thomas A’Kempis. I greatly enjoy the writings of Max Lucado, David Brooks, and Scott Sauls. What hits home most for me is the theologian who can apply the gospel of grace to our daily life. I am very blessed to have access to the Lanier Library and for my wife Jana’s career. She has worked in the Christian Publishing industry for 25 years, so I am never short of something new to read.
