Christine Hards, Licensed Professional Counselor

My journey to becoming a counselor started at the age of 11 when my family tragically lost my older brother in a car accident. One very special teacher was caring enough to take me out for ice cream as my family was planning the funeral arrangements. Her small act of kindness inspired me to become a middle school teacher. Therefore, I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2009 with a degree in education and started teaching 6th grade reading, language arts, and social studies. During my first year of teaching, I quickly realized that I was more concerned with my student’s wellness than their academic success. The Lord prompted me to shift my career focus to counseling. After obtaining a Master's of Education in School Counseling from Sam Houston State University in 2012, I started working as a middle school counselor in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. My four years as a middle school counselor were rewarding and insightful. I gained invaluable exposure to the many issues plaguing today's adolescents, and I was responsible for the academic, personal, and social success, as well as college and career readiness, of approximately 500 students. Although working in the schools gave me the opportunity to influence a large number of students, I was unable to dedicate my time solely to counseling. This limitation inspired me to start a private counseling practice in 2016.

My husband, Kirby, and I met at Texas A&M University and have been married for eleven years. We are blessed to have two children.

I am very excited to be a part of the Care & Counseling Ministry. My hope is to allow God to use me to meet the mental health needs of our community and Cypress Bible Church.

More About Christine:

What is your favorite dessert and why?

I definitely have a sweet tooth! Oreos, Molten Chocolate Cake, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and the list goes on and on. Ultimately, my favorite dessert is a warm chocolate chip cookie with a scoop of Bluebell Vanilla Ice Cream. The warm cookie melts the ice cream into the perfect combination of ooey, gooey deliciousness

What was your most awkward moment that was witnessed by others?

It was a rainy, Fall day and I was delivering a box of frozen turkey and Thanksgiving sides to a car in the parking lot of Bleyl Middle School. I was using a rolling cart (originally intended for overhead projectors) to more easily transport these heavy items. The rain picked up while we were loading these items in the trunk, so I started running back into the school. The rolling cart I was pushing slipped on the wet concrete and I tumbled over the top of it in front of the main parking lot of the school. One of the Assistant Principals took me to the nurse to get checked out. Then, he looked up my fall on the security cameras and showed it to me. Praise God I was just bruised and embarrassed!

Pool, beach lake, river or waterpark?

The beach is one of my favorite places! The beauty of God's creation is so apparent in the ocean breeze, crashing waves, and grains of sand. I love to sit and read, nap in the sun, play in the waves and sand with my kids.
