The Opportunity
Each summer thousands of Gulf Arabs come to London for vacation. Most of them have never had a single opportunity to hear the truth about Jesus. London Bridges is an innovative way to share the Gospel with those who may have never heard. While it is illegal to evangelize or distribute Bibles in the home countries of these Arabs, summertime in London provides the opportunity to share Jesus with them. Many will be exposed to the Gospel for the very first time. Some will view the Jesus films and read the New Testaments while in the UK. Hopefully, others will find ways to take the materials back to the Arabian Peninsula and share them with family members where it is both difficult and dangerous to evangelize.
London Bridges is a joint project involving multiple ministries of Campus Crusade for Christ, the Southern Baptist International Mission Board and Western Avenue Baptist Church located in Statesville, NC. The project is designed to train volunteers from all over the world to mass-distribute Arabic New Testaments, Jesus films, and other materials.
The Work
The work is done in small teams focusing on seed sowing through distribution and building personal relationships when the opportunity arises. While the primary task is distribution, there will also be many opportunities to share the Gospel through relationships. Daily work begins after lunch with training, worship, prayer, and sharing. There will be opportunities for doing relational work in the parks, prayer walking, and concentrated prayer focusing on the Arab countries. Evenings will be spent on the streets where Arabs gather distributing packets containing Arabic New Testaments and Arabic Jesus Films on DVDs.
London Bridges participants will distribute:
- Arabic New Testaments
- Arabic JESUS films on DVDs that include the Jesus Film, the Jesus Film for Children, and Magdalena, the Jesus Film for Women.
Requirements and Expectations
All applicants are required to complete an online application and pay a $50 application fee (credit card/debit card/E-check only). All applications will be reviewed by the Mission team leader. Your position with the mission team is at the discretion of CBC staff and the Team Leader. They will contact you if there are any questions or if they need additional information.
All team members are required to attend scheduled pre-trip and post-trip meetings and additional training meetings to be determined by your team leader.
First mandatory meeting for all teams is Sunday, March 4th at 12:30. A light lunch will be offered in the Commons; the meeting will be held in the auditorium until 2:45.
Team members may also be required to complete additional preparatory work such as Bible memory, book reading and journaling in order to maximize the experience and to prepare your heart and mind for God’s working in and through you and your team.
All team members are required to follow the guidelines for raising the required financial and prayer support for your trip. This information will be discussed at the first team meeting.
